Range Anxiety

Range Anxiety
The fear of being stranded in an electric car because of insufficient battery performance – said to be a barrier to sales of electric vehicles.

Launching the Cadillac Converj concept car, General Motors’ Bob Lutz addressed the consumer’s fear of range anxiety:

It’s a logical extension of our plan to reinvent the automobile … It clearly shows what a Cadillac electric vehicle could look like, and clearly indicates that global luxury customers can have a car that has both strong design and electric propulsion with a total range of hundreds of anxiety-free miles.
Car magazine quoted Lutz as claiming:
Owners will be able to drive the Converj 40 miles without using a drop of fuel – and an additional 700 miles with the engine spinning … If you do predominantly short urban runs, you may never have to buy another drop of fuel again.
